Thank YOU so much, and your amazing crew and Charissa. Wow! What a party. I truly enjoyed it – the atmosphere was just right, the cues you took from the kids, the seamless and lovely interaction between your guys and the kids, the support you gave us with the details, before and during the party (and the support your guys gave each other – I hope Mac’s arm has recovered from holding up that mic – we were touched that he did that, and that Sean came in to spell him – such a nice team camaraderie).
We all look forward to seeing you at Sophie’s party!! She was at Romy’s party, but you probably didn’t meet her, and her little sister was the smallest little girl running around with my younger daughter.
p.s. Thought I’d mention, because Romy might not have come off as shy through the stories her friends told, but she often is very shy with adults when she first meets them, and I noticed that that wasn’t the case with you when you met her at our house. You put her at ease, and I’m sure in a subtle way that helped her feel confident about and excited for the party.
Yelp does not provide enough stars to give proper credit to Dave Swirsky and Expressway Music. Five stars doesn’t do it.
When I started planning my daughter Julia’s bat mitzvah party over a year ago, I swore that we would not have a DJ. I have had so many miserable experiences as a guest at mitzvah parties (and weddings) where the music was deafeningly loud, so loud that the walls and floor seemed to vibrate and you couldn’t have a conversation with the person standing right next to you unless you literally screamed in their ear. I have been to more than one party where I sat there with earplugs, unable to socialize or enjoy myself or even hear myself think. So when Julia expressed a wish to have dancing and games, initially I said no. I said no the second, third, and fourth times she asked as well. Finally, I began to worry that she wouldn’t have fun at her own party and agreed to look into finding a DJ that both kids and adults alike might enjoy. I was skeptical, to say the least.
From the time I started my initial search for a DJ to the date of the party, Dave and his wonderful assistant, Charissa, were professional, responsive, courteous, thoughtful, and kind. They addressed my questions, listened to my wishes and concerns, put my mind at ease, and treated me with the kind of professionalism one can only hope for when planning a big event. Charissa also put together the most delightful photo montage of my daughter for our guests, unfazed by my requests for last-minute changes to it.
Planning a party like a mitzvah or a wedding is a substantial investment financially and an even greater investment emotionally because it celebrates a milestone of enormous personal and cultural significance. My daughter was so proud of what she had accomplished in preparing for her bat mitzvah and could not have found a better way to celebrate than with music and dancing guided by Dave and Alberto. I honestly don’t think I ever saw my child so happy. As a parent, one’s happiness is often determined by the happiness of one’s kids. That was certainly true here, but not entirely, because I thoroughly enjoyed myself in the moment as well and will remember it all for a very long time. I am really grateful to Dave and his colleagues and cannot recommend him highly enough. - Rachel D.
Really anything you can imagine that your kid might want or you might want he can arrange for you, if not personally provide. You can hand it all over to him and he’ll make it happen. He’s reasonable, friendly, funny, sweet natured, and bright. A real find.“I have to say, David Swirsky is absolutely the best! I have been meaning to post a review on Google for him, and will definitely do so. He was the DJ/entertainment guru for our sons bar mitzvah in January, and I only wish that we had known about him for our older child’s bat mitzvah four years ago.
I couldn’t recommend him more highly. Feel free to call me during the day tomorrow, if you would like to discuss further.
And Mazel Tov!
We had Dave DJ our son’s Bar Mitzvah party and he was SO WONDERFUL! Dave is warm and kind, easy-going, responsive and creative. He really listened to us and what we wanted to evening to be like. He was responsive to our son’s requests too. He read the crowd perfectly, most everyone danced all night long. He also made the genius suggestion that we add karaoke, which was a real hit. The party was fabulous because he kept everyone dancing and having the best time! We loved working with Dave and I can’t recommend him highly enough!
David and Alberto,
We never really believe the hype when we hear that an entertainment team is “awesome”. But today, your team was truly awesome. We wanted a party that had energy for the kids, but was enjoyable for our parents generation. Dave and the rest of the team nailed it all. Everyone left the party complimenting us on how much fun they had. Thank you so much. The kids had such a great day and our parents had so much fun. That is not easy to pull off.

Our family was so lucky to have you coordinate all of the entertainment for Lexi’s Bat Mitzvah weekend. You pulled off two very different parties, with a hugely successful Bat Mitzvah luncheon on Saturday in a hotel ballroom and then an all-out fun restaurant dinner celebration on Sunday night. Every moment working with all of you has been pitch-perfect from our very first meeting. The magician totally “wowed” the cocktail crowd, so they knew it was going to be an extraordinary night right from moment one. What a doll! Your dancers were extraordinarily professional- they got to know the Bat Mitzvah girl’s friends as well as the adult guests without ever being intrusive.
I could write a whole note just complimenting them. DJ Hank played such great music that I danced with the kids awhile and they were all exclaiming that it was “the best Bat Mitzvah they had ever gone to”. I wish I could go clubbing with him every weekend! Out front with you the DJ & Karaoke was a blast and my friends and family could not stop laughing, dancing, hugging, talking, taking photos. I know I was really specific about the music and you exceeded every expectation in every single regard. I am so glad that we have a video memory of the event AND photos, seeing it on the plasma screen TVs while it was all happening made it seem like we were at a really fun rock concert! Plus we got to go home with super-fun super-imposed photos, so even while we wait for our stills, we already have the most hysterical photos- Lexi took so many with her friends and today they are already hanging up in her locker at school! And finally MC Alberto, was a treasure! He is the best friend that everyone must have at an event, exactly and totally there when you need him and just unobtrusive when you don’t. He has a personality that people just want to be around him and hang out with him, while at the same time he is smoothly moving everything along. The kids were raving about his raffle, all with questions about the Bat Mitzvah girl! He was an absolute delight to work with. I think the trick is that Expressway offers professional, truly nice people and together you are all totally focused on making every second of the party into a really magical time.
We are getting non-stop calls and e-mails, everyone agrees it was just the most fabulous two days! Thank you for ensuring that the most important weekend for our family had the absolute greatest memories that we could ever ask for.
With much love and appreciation,
Karen, Elliot and Alexis Lerner

Common Questions we get from Parents
- “Will the emcee pay too much attention to the more outgoing kids (or small children) and forget about my daughter? (After all, it’s her Bat Mitzvah.” )
- “My son is afraid of being embarrassed and doesn’t want to be the center of attention.”
- “I’ve never done a candle lighting ceremony before. What do I have to do?”
- “These are pretty sophisticated kids who like to dance and are up on all the latest fads.
- You’re not going to make them play a lot of childish games are you?”
- “In my son’s circle of friends, the girls always seem to end up on one side of the room and the boys on the other. I wish there was some way to break the ice.”
- “The last Bar Mitzvah I went to, the dancers were dressed like hookers.”
- “The lyrics of some songs they play at these things are clearly inappropriate for a Bat Mitzvah celebration.”
- “I hate it when the dj music is so loud that the adults can’t carry on a normal conversation.”
- “I hope they’ll have some slow dancing for us old folks too.”
- “Do we really need those party props that we see at every bar mitzvah?”
- We don’t want to be sold services we don’t need. Can’t we have a great party without spending an arm and a leg and another arm?
And the Answers Are…….
Your concerns are justified But they’re not a problem.
The solution is a DJ /emcee who (a) listens well and (b) recognizes that since no two kids are alike.
Why should Bar/Bat Mitzvahs be stamped out of a cookie cutter?
The first thing we do is listen Seems simple, doesn’t it? But you’d be surprised at how many entertainment organizations are oblivious to your concerns or those of your Bar or Bat Mitzvah boy or girl. The last thing you want is to wind up with an event that zigs when everyone there wants to zag.
The next thing we do is sit down with you and talk it over. If you want a tight rein on song lyrics, we’ll be happy to pull them. If you’re concerned about the entertainment not being “too young” or “too old,” let’s discuss it. If your son or daughter likes to be the center of attention or conversely would rather not be in the spotlight, either way is fine with us. Just let us know. If your grownup guests are more likely to be talkers than dancers, let us know about that too.
We’re good at adjusting “on the fly” You never really know how a Bar/Bat Mitzvah will come off until it actually happens. And occasionally there are times when a quick change in direction is just what the doctor ordered. We’re good at that, and our emcees and DJ’s are trained to keep a watchful eye on the audience and to respond accordingly. This may be your first Bar/Bat Mitzvah; it’s our umpteenth! If you’re not quite sure how to deal with special ceremonies like candle lighting or the reciting of prayers over the challah or wine, not to worry we’ll go over it with you every step of the way.
A full time DJ who has years of event experience and who will makes basic announcements and introductions. This option is ideal if you want Music and Dancing to be the main focus of the party. Clients who choose this option usually also want the adults to be dancing as much as the kids. (With this option the dj does not emcee games or interactive activities with the kids). A great add on for this option is Karaoke.
A full time DJ who will play great music and emcee games and lead dances. This is an ideal option for clients who want the kids to be entertained but don’t require a full time professional, separate emcee. This option is also ideal for parties with less then 40 kids and who want interactive games. Clients often add our photo booth, sports games and/or karaoke to this package.
DJ and Separate Emcee. This is for those parties that have over 50 kids and where interactive games is requested and required. This option is also ideal for those Bar/Bat Mitzvahs that are having a candle lighting ceremony and an above average amount of details(our emcee will help with those in every way). Our additional services (photo booth, karaoke, dancers magician, sports games, lighting are often added on this package as well)
