Central Synagogue Hosted Lily’s Bat Mitzvah this Past Saturday and our MUCH Requested DJ did an outstanding job leading dances and initiating games, trivia and our Raffle Option. Please Watch The video below!
Bat Mitzvah New York City
The East Side Marriott Hosted Rachel’s Bat Mitzvah Saturday and for a Day party there was a huge amount of participation! The Marriott is very flexible in how you can arrange the room(s) and for Rachel’s party it worked out perfectly. Lunch and Dancing were in the main Morgan BallRoom and Karaoke and sports games (for the kids) was in the Whitney room Down the Hall.
Expressway Music Team
We had a wonderful team of talent at Rachel’s Bat mitzvah.
They’re were many children (and adults) at the party and Karaoke was the perfect entertainment to keep the kids occupied by singing and dancing and also for the adults (later on to join them)
Our sports games (Pop a Shot Basketball, Ping Pong and Air Hockey) was also a huge hit that both the boys and girls played a lot (as did the adults)
Ok. Let’s get back to the dancing in the main room. As the dj it was somewhat challenging to have all the older guests seated near the dance floor while the kids were in the middle to the back of the room. When i arrive with my set up guy we immediately set up a wireless Bose Speaker so the guests in the middle of the room could hear all announcements, toasts and music. it made such a difference and there was continuous dancing (young and old) all day. Here is a fun conga line to the song “Jump in the line” by Harry Belafonte..it was big hit.
Our clients often ask us to produce their montage for them. They provide us with anywhere from 100 to 200 photos and our internal team produces the video(with music)we also can provide the Projector and Screen to show the video. Here’s what it looked like at Rachel’s party.
Rachel had a blast being Alberto’s Co emcee of the Raffle. She asked trivia questions about herself and other subjects and then when it was time to raffle off prizes She did a great job helping Alberto!
The East Side Marriott Hotel
If you are having a party or event on the East Side NYC then you should consider this space. The staff is super accommodating and friendly. And as friendly as they are they are very detailed oriented which i, as a vendor, really appreciate. It makes for a very well run party that runs very smoothly. Personally I was most impressed with their food! At so many of these events the food tastes bland or it was cooked very quickly..not here..the food was fresh, tasty and you could just tell very healthy.
Thank you so much to the Hotel staff and to Rachel’s parents Claudia and Josh for having us provide the entertainment for Rachel’s party. We were so thrilled to be a part of it.

Everything was perfect and set up worked well using the 2 rooms. Rachel
and her friends enjoyed the games and karaoke in the Whitney Room. I
appreciate the time you took to talk to Rachel and me, see the rooms
(set up) at the hotel and get to know us, what would work for us and
our group. Thanks for suggesting the raffle and trivia. The montage
worked for us-I’m not usually a big fan of montages-but this showed the
people that shaped Rachel’s life so far.
Yelp does not provide enough stars to give proper credit to Dave Swirksy and Expressway Music. Five stars doesn’t do it.
When I started planning my daughter Julia’s bat mitzvah party over a year ago, I swore that we would not have a DJ. I have had so many miserable experiences as a guest at mitzvah parties (and weddings) where the music was deafeningly loud, so loud that the walls and floor seemed to vibrate and you couldn’t have a conversation with the person standing right next to you unless you literally screamed in their ear. I have been to more than one party where I sat there with earplugs, unable to socialize or enjoy myself or even hear myself think. So when Julia expressed a wish to have dancing and games, initially I said no. I said no the second, third, and fourth times she asked as well. Finally, I began to worry that she wouldn’t have fun at her own party and agreed to look into finding a DJ that both kids and adults alike might enjoy. I was skeptical, to say the least.
Fast forward to November 18, 2017, when Julia and our guests — kids and adults alike — had the time of their lives thanks to Dave, who was our DJ, and the incomparable Alberto as emcee. Dave has an uncanny ability to read the room, play music that will be fun for all the guests, and meet the host’s goals and take the host’s wishes into account. I honestly wasn’t sure how this was possible, but he did it. It takes enormous talent and sensitivity – not to mention good taste – to accomplish this, and the experience was so amazing that it far surpassed anything I’d expected. The music was at an appropriate volume so that people could dance and enjoy themselves, but also so that people who weren’t necessarily dancing could enjoy themselves as well, whether at the bar, in small groups of people having conversations, etc. Alberto the emcee just charmed the kids with his sense of fun, creative games, whimsical dances, and more. He was so much fun, even adults joined in. (Yes, I tried to limbo!) When both your 13-year-old daughter and your 81-year-old father are raving about the entertainment at your party, you know you found the right talent.
From the time I started my initial search for a DJ to the date of the party, Dave and his wonderful assistant, Charissa, were professional, responsive, courteous, thoughtful, and kind. They addressed my questions, listened to my wishes and concerns, put my mind at ease, and treated me with the kind of professionalism one can only hope for when planning a big event. Charissa also put together the most delightful photo montage of my daughter for our guests, unfazed by my requests for last-minute changes to it.
Planning a party like a mitzvah or a wedding is a substantial investment financially and an even greater investment emotionally because it celebrates a milestone of enormous personal and cultural significance. My daughter was so proud of what she had accomplished in preparing for her bat mitzvah and could not have found a better way to celebrate than with music and dancing guided by Dave and Alberto. I honestly don’t think I ever saw my child so happy. As a parent, one’s happiness is often determined by the happiness of one’s kids. That was certainly true here, but not entirely, because I thoroughly enjoyed myself in the moment as well and will remember it all for a very long time. I am really grateful to Dave and his colleagues and cannot recommend him highly enough.
A New York City Bat Mitzvah
Bat Mitzvah Service
I was very confident going in that Aliza’s Bat Mitzvah this past Saturday Night at the Manhattan Penthouse was going to be extra Special. Aliza and her family have a natural way of making everyone (from Vendors to Guests) feel welcome and included. The service was also held at the MP and here is a snapshot of towards the end of the service.
We provided an Ipad Playlist that hooked into the venue’s system during cocktail hour. I made the list of great songs from the 60’s through the 90’s as requested and while Adults were enjoying everything in the front room the Kids came into the main room for a little Karaoke with me (DJ) and our Emcee Alberto.
Introduction of the Bat Mitzvah Girl
Aliza wanted to be introduced at the end of cocktail hour to her friends only. Here it is with our DJ Alberto making the announcement.
Our clients almost always have us bring Karaoke to their kids Bar/Bat Mitzvah but i have to say this group of children could not have been more into music and singing and dancing. At the end of the party there were still over 20 song slips left! * Please note if you are worried that karaoke will “take over” your child’s party not to worry. I don’t ever put on a karaoke song if it’s going to disrupt the dancing on the dance floor. On this party, because the Karaoke was in such demand with the kids, i was going back and forth between singing and dancing and it was seamless for over 3 in a half hours!
If you think there was a lot of singing you would be right but it didn’t come close to the amount of Dancing Aliza and her friends did(and the adults!!!)
In Addition to being a Busy NYC Emcee(and DJ) Alberto is also an active Dancer who performs at Lincoln Center almost every night. In the video below you will see that one of Aliza’s friends didn’t need Alberto’s help leading this particular dance!!!! (JuJu on that beat)
Our Expressway Music Photo Booth was once again a huge hit. Our Photo techs are easy going and great with guests and we bring fun props for guests to dress up in. Our Customized strips come in either Color or Black & White. Here are a few photos of guests having a blast with our booth!
Projector and Screen for Montage
One of Aliza’s friends did a great job making her Montage. We brought along our Projector and Screen to play it.
Quite often our Emcee and/or Dancers will hand out raffle tickets to kids every time they participate in a game, or are dancing or answer a trivia question correctly. This is done often throughout the party so kids are always interacting. Towards the end of the party our emcee will tell kids to collect their tickets. Our emcee (or the Bar/Bat mitzvah girl or boy) will call out raffle numbers and whomever wins gets prizes like gift cards, ear buds, etc. Here is a photo of Emcee Alberto conducting the raffle.
DJ Dave and Emcee Alberto
We have worked together often and have a great chemistry. We compliment each others strengths and weaknesses very well
THANK YOU FROM MOM

Thanks for all of your patience, attention to detail, and professionalism.

Thank you so much to Aliza’s parents Tony and Hilary for having us provide the entertainment for this amazing Bat Mitzvah.
Brooklyn Bar Mitzvah
Ezra, and his family and friends, had the party of the year Saturday night at Brooklyn Venue and Concert Hall Roulette. It was non stop fun from the moment I played the first song. Both kids and Adults were engaged in the party with Dancing, Games and Karaoke. I worked with MC Cliff who did an outstanding job keeping everyone engaged by his boundless enthusiasm and energy! Our Photo booth was also a huge hit!
MC Cliff and I are excellent at capturing the pulse of the crowd as you can see by just a small sample of the dancing that went on at the party in the video below
I make sure when I dj that i take care of requests from guests(kids and adults alike). I will always do whatever i can to make it so the kids and all other guests are having the absolute best time.
100 percent of the time karaoke is the hit of the party when it’s included. Most of the time clients are skeptical about how it work out but it not only works out it is always very successful.
Here the Kids are singing with the Adults to the Beatles during cocktail hour.
Our Expressway Music Photo Booth was also
a HUGE hit. Guests took home multiple photos and had fun all night with the numerous props we bring to take photos with!
Here is a lovely letter (and below the letter a review on YELP) from the Bar Mitzvah boys Mom.

Thanks again for a WONDERFUL night! That party was exactly what we were hoping for and it has everything to do with you and you excellent DJ’ing — you were so great to work with — again, thank you, thank you! I posted to Yelp, and do let us know if anyone ever wants a recommendation, we’d be glad to.
Question about the photo booth: the photographer said that we’d get a zip drive with all the photos on it — how do we get that?
Thank you again and Happy New Year to you too!
Susan and Henry
We had Dave DJ our son’s Bar Mitzvah party and he was SO WONDERFUL! Dave is warm and kind, easy-going, responsive and creative. He really listened to us and what we wanted to evening to be like. He was responsive to our son’s requests too. We asked him to work with an emcee who came from out of town, and who he’d never met before; he didn’t miss a beat. We gave him a list of songs, and he read the crowd perfectly, most everyone danced all night long. He also made the genius suggestion that we add karaoke, which was a real hit. The party was fabulous because he kept everyone dancing and having the best time! We loved working with Dave and I can’t recommend him highly enough!
Harvest on the Hudson Bat Mitzvah
DJ/Owner of Expressway Music NYC, Dave Swirsky, was the DJ For Julia’s Bat mitzvah (Dave was also the dj for Julia’s 3 older siblings) at Harvest on the Hudson in Hastings on the Hudson NY.
H on H is beautifully situated close to the water and on a nice day, as Saturday was, it is picturesque.
The kids had so much fun between the non stop dancing, singing (yes Dave brought Karaoke!)and friends presentations. Here are some photos:
Karaoke was a huge hit with both the boys and girls!
Expressway Music is known for their fun, tasteful Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Year after Year Bar/Bat Mitzvah clients hire our dj’s because our dj’s know how make a party work without forcing the issue or being over the top. Ask for our many recent references from very satisfied clients.
Long Island Bar Mitzvah
Our wonderful DJ-MC Jeanine kept everyone engaged and dancing Saturday night at Adam’s Bar Mitzvah at H on the Harbor in Port Washington Long Island.
Jeanine’s assistant John Michael also helped assist in every way making the party full of activity, music and games.
The kids had an absolute blast dancing and with the games Jeanine MC’d. Some kids said it was the best party they were ever at!
The DJ lighting was also a big hit. The kids literally danced all Mitzvah Long!

Caleigh’s Bat Mitzvah was held Saturday night at Gramercy Park’s Brotherhood Synagogue. It was Caleigh’s 40 closest friends and they had a blast! The Brotherhood Synagogue is a progressive congregation in the Conservative Jewish tradition.

India House Bat Mitzvah
It was the Third Mitzvah that Expressway Music has done for the family and it was a blast! Mia and friends and family enjoyed her Bat Mitzvah at The India House downtown(by Battery Park City) Saturday night.
On the second floor of the India house the adults were able to be in their own area for dinner and the kids in another room while the two rooms join at the dance floor. DJ Dave’s sound system (Bose speakers) were loud enough to enjoy dancing but didn’t disturb the adults sitting very nearby. Here is a photo of his set up: (with lighting, karaoke and projector and screen for montage)
Towards the end of dinner guests gathered around the dance floor to watch the entertaining montage about Mia.
The kids LOVED to sing and the Karaoke was a big hit as you can see…..
Expressway Music Magician Ben was mesmerizing the kids with his stroll around magic and mentalism (watch the following two videos)
Expressway Dancers, Cassie and Tiffany, were once again outstanding and helped in every aspect of the Bat Mitzvah.
Here is our Expressway Music MC conducting the raffle.
The India House is owned/operated by Masterpiece caterers. The food and staff are first rate and it was an absolute pleasure working with Melissa and Kevin. Thank you Mia’s folks for hiring us for all three of their kid’s mitzvahs..it’s very much appreciated!
Ben’s parents wanted a party that didn’t lose the meaning of what the day was about. They requested the DJ (DJ Dave Swirsky) play great music that appeals to both the kids and adults, not on the microphone much and that the music never be too loud. Mission accomplished.

Hi David. I’m finally coming down from the high of the Bar Mitzvah. A
great party (if I do say so myself). I guess Ben was wrong about his
friend’s not liking to dance. 🙂 Thanks again for the great music. J.
Venue and Bar Mitzvah Party Details
Ben’s Bar Mitzvah was held at the Manhattan Penthouse overlooking the NYC skyline.
Expressway Music Owner/DJ was the DJ for the Bar Mitzvah
Expressway Music Dancer/Assistant Cassandra helped in every way possible. The kids and adults loved her.
DJ Dave and his assistant also set up wireless speakers in the cocktail hour room playing and eclectic set of Steely Dan, Miles Davis, Ramsey Lewis, John Lennon and more.
There were also Sports Games for the Kids including Air Hockey, Foosball and more….
This was a very diverse crowd with 70 kids and 70 adults of all ages and musical tastes. DJ Dave kept them dancing all evening..it was so much fun. Here is a photo of the Bar Mitzvah Boy Ben letting the crowd know the meaning of Pi Day.
